Since Bloomberg announced its acquisition of Barclays POINT at the end of 2015, BI-SAM has received a number of inquiries from our customers who are seeking guidance as they begin to consider a transition plan.
In that spirit, we have outlined three questions that current Barclays POINT users should consider as part of their evaluation process:
- Does your firm currently rely solely on POINT for performance-aligned analytics, or do you use an enterprise source to drive decision-making and attribution reporting?
If the former, your new solution will need to include a data source for analytics, as well as data management and validation tools. We are happy to connect you with best-in-class data providers, and collaborate to craft an enterprise solution leveraging our industry-leading data management capabilities.
- Does your organization primarily use POINT as a front office tool for modeling and decomposition, or do you also use it for reporting?
If the latter, your new solution will need to include flexible reporting capabilities that complement your current workflow requirements, and have the ability to scale as the scope of those requirements evolve in response to client demand, regulations and internal expectations.
- If you are not already a BI-SAM customer, are you using another enterprise-wide performance and attribution solution alongside POINT?
If you’ve not previously required an enterprise-wide solution, now might be the time for your organization to reevaluate its original requirements. Consider the benefits of evolving past a tool meant mainly for portfolio managers, to a best-in-class solution that can broaden the value of analytics across your firm, from Sales and Marketing to the C-suite and Board.
If you have any questions or concerns during your transition process away from POINT, BI-SAM and our community of collaborators are happy to offer guidance and help you to determine how best to fill any anticipated gaps.
